Grixis Delver is an aggro-control, or tempo, deck that looks to stick either its namesake Delver of Secrets or a large delve threat like Tasigur, the Golden Fang while disrupting its opponent. Efficient removal like Fatal Push and Lightning Bolt allow us to keep the board in check, while cards like Collective Brutality and Countersquall allow us to interact with spell based combo decks.

This is one of the best decks in Modern. It combines disruptive elements from cards like Kitesail Freebooter and Meddling Mage, along with the fast clock that Mantis Rider and Thalia’s Lieutenant provide to give itself a chance in most matches. The last thing humans was really missing was a source of card advantage, and with M19 it now has this in the form of Militia Bugler.

This is an aggro-control, or “tempo”, deck. It looks to set its opponent behind with cards like Remand while applying pressure with evasive threats like Delver of Secrets and Nimble Obstructionist. Cards like Lightning Bolt and Wizard’s Lightning allow us to both control the board or close out games when our opponent’s health total gets low. You can read a bit about this history of this deck on CSI here as well as check out a primer after my run at SCG Indy here.
